Why you:

This role sits on one of the largest database estates in the world, supporting
one of our biggest clients — the kind of scale most infrastructure engineers
never get direct access to. Changes made here don't touch one system, they touch
a fleet, so the impact of good (and bad) engineering is outsized.

We're looking for an infrastructure/DevOps engineer to own the AWS platform our
clients' RDS and Aurora databases run on — not the databases' internals. You'll
manage the Terraform and CI/CD pipeline (GitLab, Harness) that provisions them,
maintain the supporting tooling that handles user and schema management, and be
the escalation point when a team's Terraform, pipeline, or process has gone
wrong. A big part of the job is making that go wrong less often: improving
documentation, and building out the tooling that automatically routes support
queries to the right place instead of everything landing on-call.

What you will be doing:

Support & Troubleshooting:

Act as the escalation point when clients or internal teams break their
Terraform, break their pipeline, or don't follow documented process — diagnose
the actual problem and get them unblocked.

Write clear Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports for significant incidents.

Infrastructure & Automation:

Build and maintain Terraform for provisioning AWS database infrastructure
(RDS/Aurora), and the GitLab/Harness pipelines that deploy it.

Maintain the supporting tooling that manages database users and schemas,
ensuring it stays correctly integrated with the databases it manages.
