Job Purpose
The Chemical Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the chemical analysis of metals and materials used in casting and forging processes. This role ensures that all materials meet quality standards and customer specifications by managing laboratory operations and delivering accurate, reliable test results that support production quality and compliance.
Job Responsibilities
- Laboratory Operations Management
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and conduct staff training.
- Chemical Analysis and Review
- Perform chemical composition analysis (e.g., OES, XRF, ICP).
- Prepare samples and review test results for accuracy.
- Quality Assurance Support
- Verify chemical conformity of materials during production.
- Conduct tests based on customer and certification body requirements.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Prepare test reports and manage analytical data.
- Investigate quality issues and propose corrective actions.
- Team Leadership and Training
- Assign tasks and manage performance of lab personnel.
- Train current employees and interns on lab procedures.
Job Requirements
- Education
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or a related field.
- Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the metal industry or quality control.
- Proven experience in laboratory management and analytical equipment operation.
- Technical Skills
- Proficiency in operating OES, ICP, XRF, and other analytical instruments.
- Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO and ASTM.
- Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Competence in technical writing and reporting.
- Other Qualifications
- Ability to read and understand technical documents in English.
- Experience with quality certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 17025) is a plus.
