JOB DESCRIPTION: ECONOMICS TEACHER (CLASSES IXXII) & HIGHER EDUCATION MENTOR
Position Title: Economics Teacher
Department: Academics (Humanities / Social Sciences)
Reports To: Principal / Academic Coordinator
Location: The Wisdom Global School, Haridwar

ROLE PURPOSE
To deliver high-quality Economics education to students from Grades IX to XII while nurturing analytical thinking, conceptual clarity, and real-world application. The role also includes mentoring and guiding students aspiring to pursue higher studies in Economics and related fields at national and international institutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Academic Delivery

- Teach Economics to students of Classes IXXII in alignment with the prescribed curriculum (CBSE/ICSE/IB/IGCSE as applicable).
- Develop engaging lesson plans that integrate theory with real-life economic scenarios.
- Use diverse pedagogical approaches including case studies, data analysis, debates, and project-based learning.
- Ensure strong conceptual clarity in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and applied economics.

2. Assessment & Evaluation

- Design assessments, question papers, and assignments aligned with board examination patterns.
- Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Track academic progress and implement remedial strategies where required.

3. Mentoring for Higher Studies

- Guide students interested in pursuing Economics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Provide academic counselling on career pathways such as Economics, Finance, Public Policy, Data Analytics, and related domains.
- Assist students in building solid profiles (research projects, internships, Olympiads, competitions).
- Support students in college applications, SOP writing, and interview preparation (India and abroad).





4. Enrichment & Skill Development

- Organize economics clubs, workshops, seminars, and guest lectures.
- Encourage participation in debates, Model United Nations (MUNs), and economics-related competitions.
- Integrate current economic developments, policy discussions, and global trends into classroom teaching.

5. Curriculum Development

- Contribute to curriculum planning and academic innovation in Economics.
- Develop resource materials, worksheets, and interdisciplinary modules.
- Align teaching practices with NEP, experiential learning, and competency-based education frameworks.

6. Classroom Management & Student Engagement

- Create an inclusive, interactive, and intellectually stimulating classroom environment.
- Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
- Build strong relationships with students to support both academic and personal growth.

7. Collaboration & Communication

- Work closely with fellow teachers, coordinators, and school leadership.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and development.
- Participate in staff meetings, career development programs, and school events.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

- Masters degree in Economics (preferred) or related field.
- B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification (mandatory for school teaching roles).




- 37 years of teaching experience at secondary/senior secondary level.
- Experience with board exam preparation and results orientation is desirable.
