What You ll Do The Tax and Compliance Specialist meaningfully contributes in Avalara s compliance operations by preparing and filing multi-jurisdictional tax returns You will maintain relationships with both customers and U S tax jurisdictions helping resolve notices and support change management activities The Specialist also contributes to process improvements by partnering with our teams You ll report to the Manager Compliance and is based in the Pune office What Your Responsibilities Will Be You ll prepare and file multi-jurisdictional tax returns across various filing frequencies You ll manage pre-cycle and off-cycle activities including customer outreach account updates filing calendar adjustments and special projects You must handle critical prepayment processes and troubleshoot issues to reduce risk You should resolve jurisdictional notices by coordinating with customers jurisdictions and internal teams You ll navigate jurisdiction websites and complete manual filing processes when needed Review statutory bulletins and support change management efforts Contribute to Statutory Readiness Review projects by attending meetings and providing insight Maintain relationships with key jurisdiction contacts and Avalara s Government Relations team Perform QA on tax content and form changes identify and support process and technology improvements Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Global Compliance Product Engineering Content Finance and Sales Lead meetings track action items and communicate updates via email and wiki Attend legislative monitoring meetings and share key updates Represent Avalara in state partnerships and jurisdictional meetings Foster robust relationships with tax authorities to support Avalara s compliance goals Work U S business hours to align with team and client needs What You ll Need to be Successful Bachelor s degree in Accounting Finance Taxation or a related field 8 years of relevant experience with a bachelor s degree At least 2
