Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled
Azure Cosmos DB Database Administrator (DBA)
to manage, optimize, and support enterprise-scale distributed databases. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring high availability, peak performance, robust security, and cost efficiency across mission-critical Cosmos DB deployments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Database Administration & Operations
- Manage and maintain enterprise Azure Cosmos DB environments.
- Monitor overall health, performance, and availability of Cosmos DB accounts, containers, and workloads.
- Perform capacity planning, Request Units (RU/s) management, and partition key optimization.
- Maintain strict SLA adherence for availability, latency, and throughput.
- Performance & Cost Optimization
- Analyze query performance and optimize indexing policies, partitioning strategies, and data models.
- Rightsize RU provisioning and implement autoscale strategies to minimize infrastructure costs.
- Identify and remediate hot partitions and inefficient query execution patterns.
- Implement caching strategies and optimize SDK usage where applicable.
- Reliability, Backup & Disaster Recovery (DR)
- Configure and manage multi-region replication and failover policies.
- Validate backup and restore processes (both continuous and periodic backup modes).
- Define, maintain, and execute DR runbooks aligned to RTO/RPO requirements.
- Participate in periodic DR drills and system resilience validation exercises.
- Security & Compliance
- Implement and enforce Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Managed Identities, and network security controls (Private Endpoints, VNet integration, NSGs).
