Position Title: Shift Engineer / Shift Supervisor - Paint shop production

Position Reporting To: Paint shop incharge, Machine shop-production

Work Location: Kothur Plant Hyderabad

Job Summary

The Painting Production Shift Engineer is responsible for managing and supervising painting operations for cast components during the assigned shift. The role ensures that surface preparation, coating application, curing, and quality checks are performed efficiently while meeting production targets and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Supervision- Manage painting operations for castings during the shift. And ensure production targets for painted components are achieved.
2. Surface Preparation Control - Ensure proper pre-paint treatment of castings, including Degreasing and cleaning , masking and Grit / Shot blasting,
3. Process Management: Oversee shift-wise liquid painting applications, specifically focusing on Epoxy painting and PU (Polyurethane) painting using Air spray systems.
4. Surface Preparation: Control critical pre-treatment parameters including degreasing, industrial cleaning, component masking, and grit/shot blasting processes.
5. Application Controls: Monitor and maintain strict paint viscosity, air spray pressure, Wet Film Thickness (WFT), and the specific chemical pot life of liquid paints during the shift.
6. Defect Elimination: Identify, troubleshoot, and eliminate common liquid paint defects such as paint sagging, orange peel, pinholes, low/high DFT, dust contamination, and poor coverage.
7. Equipment Care: Daily oversight of industrial paint booths,



automated or manual spray guns, and grit blasting machinery
8. Painting Process Management - Supervise painting processes such as Epoxy painting / PU painting with Air spray
9. Paint Mixing and Spray Controls – Ensure while paint application that Paint viscosity, Spray pressure, Wet Film Thickness and Pot life of paints
10. Quality Control - Ensure painted castings meet coating standards by checking Dry Film Thickness (DFT), Surface finish, Uniform coating and RAL colour matching
11. Knowledge in paint defects identification and eliminating – To avoid defects such as Low / High DFT, Paint sagging, Orange peel, Pinholes, Poor coverage & Dust contamination
12. Team Supervision – Lead the Painting operators, helpers, and technicians, Assign shift tasks and monitor productivity and Provide guidance on correct painting techniques.
13. Equipment Monitoring - Ensure proper functioning of equipment such as Spray guns, Grit / Shot blasting equipment and Paint booth. Coordinate with maintenance for breakdowns
14. Safety & Environmental Compliance - Ensure proper use of PPE (respirators, gloves, goggles) for all manpower working in section. Ensure secure storage and handling of paints, and thinners
15. Shift Reporting - Prepare shift reports including Production outputs, Rejection or rework details, Daily Paint consumption and Machine downtime

Qualifications, Experience and Behavioral requirements

Qualification: B Tech / DME

Experience: minimum 3-5 years in relevant field with up to 6 LPA
