We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to lead our backend development efforts. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing robust backend systems using the Django framework. Your expertise will be crucial in integrating frontend components seamlessly with backend functionality, ensuring a smooth and efficient user experience. Additionally, you will play a key role in enhancing and optimizing our existing eTools and related systems, writing clean, efficient code that adheres to best practices and coding standards. As a Senior Backend Developer, you will also conduct code reviews to maintain high standards of quality, performance, and security. Your contributions will be vital in optimizing application performance and scalability, and you will create comprehensive technical documentation to support your work.

Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and implement backend systems using Django, ensuring efficient and secure code.
- Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate frontend components with backend functionality.
- Enhance and improve eTools and related systems, focusing on performance and scalability.
- Write reusable, reliable code following best practices and coding standards.
- Perform code reviews to maintain code quality, performance, and security.
- Contribute to code organization and documentation, creating clear technical documentation.




- Collaborate with the eTools product team to prioritize and implement features and modifications.
- Conduct comprehensive unit and regression testing to ensure system stability.
- Write test scripts for each feature and bug fix, aiming for near-total test coverage.
- Engage in agile development practices, adapting implementation details while meeting timelines.

Qualifications

- 8 years of experience in a Senior Software Development role, with a robust emphasis on Python Django.
- Proven experience working with an Agile development team, continuous development, and deployment.
- Experience in scoping, user testing, and training for enterprise projects.
- Proficiency in designing, developing, and optimizing software as part of a distributed team using Git, especially in open-source environments.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and mentor junior developers.
- Familiarity with quality assurance testing processes and best practices.
- Ability to align technical goals with strategic goals, prioritizing technology for business success.
- Experience in developing and deploying web solutions suitable for low-bandwidth environments.
- Strong knowledge of database optimization, SQL/NoSQL, and Postgres.
- Working knowledge of Docker, docker-compose, and minikube is preferred.
