Overview

The API Engineer will design, build, and maintain integration services that connect HR systems with the enterprise data warehouse. This role focuses on consuming third‑party HR system APIs, developing scalable internal APIs, optimizing data flows, and ensuring secure, reliable movement of sensitive employee data.



The ideal candidate combines solid API engineering skills with experience across HRIS platforms, cloud ecosystems, and data ingestion pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain integration services and internal APIs that consume HR system APIs (e.g., Workday, UKG, SAP SuccessFactors, ADP, Oracle HCM, iCIMS).
• Build scalable, secure data ingestion pipelines supporting API polling, incremental loads, and event‑driven (webhook) integrations.
• Partner with HR, Data Engineering, and Analytics teams to understand data requirements and ensure timely, accurate data delivery.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth, SSO, token‑based access, service accounts).
• Design resilient integrations that handle rate limits, retries, vendor schema changes, and platform constraints.
• Create automated workflows supporting recurring HR data refreshes into the enterprise data warehouse.
