Job Summary
The Commis I is a skilled junior chef responsible for assisting in food preparation, cooking, and presentation within a specific kitchen section. The role involves supporting senior chefs, maintaining hygiene standards, preparing mise-en-place, and ensuring consistent food quality as per hotel standards.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Cooking Support
- Assist in preparing and cooking dishes under supervision of senior chefs.
- Execute assigned cooking tasks as per standardized recipes.
- Ensure proper taste, texture, and presentation of dishes.

Mise-en-Place Preparation
- Prepare ingredients such as cutting, chopping, marinating, and portioning.
- Organize and arrange ingredients before service starts.
- Ensure readiness of assigned section for smooth kitchen operations.

Kitchen Section Assistance
- Support Demi Chef de Partie and Chef de Partie in daily kitchen operations.
- Work efficiently in assigned section (e.g., Continental, Indian, Tandoor, etc.).
- Assist during peak service hours for timely order execution.

Quality Control Support




- Maintain consistency in food preparation and presentation.
- Follow recipes and portion control guidelines strictly.
- Report any issues with ingredients or preparation to seniors.

Hygiene & Food Safety
- Maintain cleanliness of workstation, tools, and kitchen equipment.
- Follow HACCP guidelines and hotel hygiene standards.
- Ensure proper storage and labeling of food items.

Inventory & Ingredient Handling
- Assist in receiving and organizing kitchen supplies.
- Use ingredients efficiently to minimize wastage.
- Inform seniors about shortages or stock requirements.

Equipment Handling
- Operate kitchen tools and equipment safely.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper usage of appliances.
- Report any damaged or faulty equipment.

Coordination with Kitchen Team
- Communicate effectively with Commis II, DCDP, and CDP.
- Support smooth workflow during busy service hours.
