1. Provide effective leadership of the medical-laboratory service, in accordance with institutional assignment of such responsibilities.
2. Relate and function effectively with applicable accrediting and regulatory agencies, appropriate administrative officials of the healthcare community, and the patient population served, and providers of formal agreements when required.
3. Correlate abnormal results with clinical presentations and offer diagnostic and treatment guidance to requesting physicians.
4. Communicate urgent or critical results in a timely and clinically appropriate manner.
5. Review, interpret & authorize results of quality control (IQC) and of PT / EQA examinations.

Conduct competency assessment of departmental laboratory technician as and when required by laboratory defined procedure.
7. Ensure the provision of clinical advice with respect to the choice of examinations, use of service and interpretation of examination results.
8. Counselling patients for any abnormal laboratory examination results appropriately and as per laboratory defined procedures.
9. Identifying abnormal features such as tumors, cysts, or necrosis.
10. Analyze biopsies and surgical tissue samples for disease diagnosis.
