Reporting To: Production Manager / Operations Head
1. Role Purpose
The CNC & Laser Machine Operator is responsible for precise cutting, engraving, and fabrication of materials used in signage, branding, and interior projects at Edge Studios.
The role ensures accuracy, quality finish, material optimization, and secure machine operations to support timely project execution.
2. Core Responsibilities
A. Machine Operation
- Operate CNC Router and Laser Cutting machines as per production drawings.
- Execute cutting, engraving, etching, and shaping operations accurately.
- Load and unload materials safely onto machines.
- Select appropriate cutting parameters based on material type.
- Monitor machine performance during operations.
B. File Preparation & Execution
- Receive design files from design/production team.
- Verify dimensions, scale, and cutting paths before execution.
- Perform basic file setup using software (CorelDRAW / AutoCAD / CNC software).
- Ensure nesting optimization to minimize material wastage.
- Conduct test cuts before final production.
C. Material Handling
- Handle materials such as:
- Acrylic
- ACP
- MDF
- PVC Foam Board
- Metal sheets (where applicable)
- Wood & signage substrates
- Inspect materials for defects before processing.
- Maintain proper stacking and storage after cutting.
D. Quality Control
- Check finished components against drawings and measurements.
- Ensure smooth edges and clean finishing.
- Identify cutting errors or design mismatches immediately.
- Maintain Edge Studios quality standards for premium finish.
E. Machine Maintenance
- Perform daily machine cleaning and upkeep.
- Check lenses, bits, belts, and alignment regularly.
- Maintain cooling systems and ventilation.
- Report technical issues immediately.
- Assist technicians during servicing.
