Technical Support Engineer/Manager (Extrusion base 3LPE Coatings)
Experience: 5 - 8 Years
Qualification: Bachelor's or masters degree in Polymer Science, Polymer Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Petrochemicals, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support
- Provide in office and remote technical support to pipeline coating applicators and pipe manufacturers.
- Support customer qualification, new product approvals, commercial trials, and production start-ups.
- Troubleshoot processing and coating issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Ensure smooth commercialization of new products and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Prepare technical reports, trial reports, failure analysis reports, and technical presentations.
Core Competency Polymer Extrusion (Primary Requirement)
The candidate must be highly proficient in polymer extrusion with hands-on industrial experience and the ability to independently solve process-related challenges.
The candidate should possess an in-depth understanding of:
- Single-screw and twin-screw extrusion technology.
- Extruder construction, screw design, L/D ratio, compression ratio, and screw selection.
- Polymer rheology, melt flow behaviour, shear sensitivity, residence time, and thermal degradation.
- Barrel temperature profiles, melt temperature control, melt pressure, output stability, and throughput optimization.
- Die design, crosshead systems, coating thickness control, concentricity, coating uniformity, and dimensional consistency.
- Selection and optimization of process parameters, including screw RPM, line speed, haul-off speed, cooling systems, and downstream equipment.
- Processing characteristics of HDPE, PP, adhesive resins, and functionalized polymers used in 3LPE/3LPP coating systems.
- Interaction between FBE, adhesive, and PE/PP, and the influence of extrusion parameters on coating performance.
