An MRD (Medical Records Department) Executive plays a critical role in a hospital or healthcare facility by ensuring that patient health information is accurately documented, organized, secured, and easily accessible for clinical use, audits, and legal requirements.

Role Summary

The MRD Executive is responsible for managing the lifecycle of patient medical records from creation and indexing to storage, retrieval, and archiving. You will ensure compliance with healthcare standards (such as NABH or JCI), maintain patient confidentiality, and facilitate the seamless flow of data between clinical departments and administrative teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Documentation Accuracy: Review patient charts, discharge summaries, and medical reports to ensure they are complete, signed, and filed correctly.
- Data Management: Maintain both physical file archives and Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems.



Ensure all entries use correct medical terminology and coding (e.g., ICD-10).
- Record Retrieval: Process requests for medical records from doctors, patients, insurance companies, or legal entities while adhering to strict privacy protocols.
- Audit Compliance: Participate in internal and external quality audits. Ensure all documentation meets hospital policies and statutory/legal requirements.
- Interdepartmental Coordination: Communicate with nursing staff and physicians to follow up on incomplete documentation or missing signatures.
- Reporting: Prepare statistical reports related to hospital admissions, discharges, and patient diagnoses for management and government regulatory bodies (e.g., birth/death registrations).

Required Skills Qualifications
- Education: Typically a Bachelor s degree in Hospital Administration, Health Information Management, or a related field. Certification in Medical Records Technology is often preferred.
