A Junior Accountant assists with the day-to-day financial operations of an organization. They are responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and maintain financial transactions in accounting software.
- Prepare and process invoices, payments, and receipts.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Reconcile bank statements and company accounts.
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Help with payroll processing and employee expense reimbursements.
- Assist during internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and company policies.
- Perform data entry and general administrative accounting tasks.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Tally, SAP).
- Robust numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial information.
Preferred Experience
- 0–2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
- Internship or practical experience in accounting is an advantage.
