Job Purpose
The Quantity Surveyor (QS) Engineer is responsible for managing all aspects of cost estimation, budgeting, and financial control for interior design and fit-out projects. The role involves coordinating with the design, procurement, and execution teams to ensure project costs are accurately estimated, monitored, and controlled throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cost Estimation & Budgeting
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs from interior design drawings.
- Develop Bills of Quantities (BOQs) in coordination with design and technical teams.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for interior fit-out projects.
- Assist in developing project budgets and cost plans.
2. Tendering & Procurement
- Prepare tender documents and invite quotations from contractors and subcontractors.
- Review and evaluate contractor and subcontractor bids.
- Assist in contract award recommendations.
- Conduct cost analysis for repair, renovation, and maintenance works.
3. Project Cost Control
- Monitor project costs to ensure adherence to approved budgets.
- Track variations, change orders, and update cost forecasts accordingly.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities in collaboration with the project team.
- Maintain accurate cost records throughout project execution.
4. Valuations & Payments
- Prepare and review interim payment applications.
- Prepare final accounts upon project completion.
- Verify subcontractor claims and recommend payments.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms, payment schedules, and commercial agreements.
5. Reporting
- Prepare regular cost reports and financial updates for management.
- Monitor project financial performance and highlight budget variances.
- Identify commercial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
