Responsibilities
- Use finite element analysis and other analytical tools to develop products that meet internal and/or external customer requirements
- Support and enhance processes and procedures significant to product development
- Translate product requirements into product design features
- Work in a team workplace towards bringing new product technologies to market
- Strong communication skills [written/oral] in presenting data and information to others
- Contribute to ideas for new computational tools in the prediction of tire performance
- Mentor / coach associates in the development of technical capabilities
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred – Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Requirements
- 4+ years of progressive experience required using finite element methodologies.
- Good knowledge of structural mechanics/dynamics and/or fluid dynamics
- Good knowledge of Finite Element Analysis fundamentals, especially nonlinear FEA
- Working knowledge of FEA tools such as Abaqus, Ansys etc.
- Working knowledge of 3D CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA V5, etc...) software and their applications is preferred
- Programming or scripting skills such as Python etc. are considered a plus.
- Basic applied statistics, Design of Experiments and multi-regression modeling, cause-and-effect analysis, risk analysis, lean principles
- Ability to accomplish assignments in a logical fashion, using existing technology and standardized methodologies
- Demonstrates strong analytical skills and cutting-edge problem-solving, emphasizing cooperative teamwork
- Ability to form strong working relationships with Goodyear associates (Global & cross-functional) and customers
- Effectively communicates and sells ideas related to project requirements and goals
- Ability to adapt to new challenges
- Develop clear and concise technical reports summarizing highlights and making recommendations for logical next steps
