The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing protected, compassionate, evidence-based nursing care while ensuring an exceptional patient and family experience. The role involves assessment, medication administration, clinical monitoring, documentation, patient education, infection prevention, and coordination with doctors and multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities1. Patient Care
- Assess patients on admission and during every shift.
- Record vital signs and clinical observations accurately.
- Monitor patient condition and immediately escalate deterioration.
- Prepare patients for investigations, procedures, and surgeries.
- Assist consultants during examinations and bedside procedures.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care.
- Ensure patient comfort, dignity, and privacy at all times.
- Support patients in activities of daily living whenever required.
2. Medication Management
- Administer medications as prescribed.
- Follow the "Right Patient, Right Drug, Right Dose, Right Route, Right Time" protocol.
- Double-check high-alert medications.
- Maintain narcotic registers as per hospital policy.
- Report medication errors and near misses immediately.
3. Clinical Procedures
Perform or assist with:
- IV Cannulation
- IV Infusions
- Catheterization
- Ryles Tube insertion (where permitted)
- Wound Dressing
- Tracheostomy Care
- Oxygen Therapy
- Nebulization
- Suctioning
- ECG Recording
- Sample Collection
- Blood Transfusion monitoring
- Drain care
- Pressure sore prevention
4. Documentation
Maintain accurate records of:
- Nursing Notes
- Medication Charts
- Intake & Output
- Vital
