Job Summary

The Housekeeping Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the environmental services (EVS) or housekeeping department. They ensure the hospital maintains the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety while managing a team of housekeeping staff, coordinating schedules, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.

Key Roles and Responsibilities1. Team Management & Supervision
- Staff Oversight: Supervise, train, and evaluate the performance of housekeeping room attendants and floor technicians.
- Scheduling: Create and manage daily shifts, assignments, and area rotations to ensure 24/7 coverage of the hospital.
- Training: Educate staff on proper chemical usage, advanced cleaning techniques, and the handling of specialized healthcare equipment.

2. Infection Control & Compliance
- Sanitation Standards: Enforce strict adherence to hospital protocols for disinfecting patient rooms, operating theaters, intensive care units (ICUs), and emergency areas.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the team complies with strict medical standards,



including OSHA regulations, CDC guidelines, and Joint Commission standards.
- Hazardous Waste Management: Oversee the secure collection, segregation, and disposal of biohazardous medical waste, sharps, and general waste.

3. Quality Assurance & Inspections
- Routine Audits: Conduct daily inspections of patient rooms, corridors, restrooms, and public spaces to ensure pristine cleanliness.
- Reporting: Document inspection findings, track room turnaround times, and report maintenance issues (e.g., broken lights, plumbing leaks) to the facilities team.
- Feedback Loop: Address patient or medical staff complaints regarding cleanliness immediately and implement corrective actions.

4. Inventory & Asset Management
- Stock Control: Monitor and manage the inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, personal protective equipment (PPE), and linens.
