A sonography typist works in hospitals, diagnostic centers, or imaging clinics and is responsible for:
- Typing ultrasound (sonography) reports as dictated by the radiologist or sonologist.
- Ensuring reports are accurate and free of spelling or formatting errors.
- Maintaining patient records and test reports.
- Entering patient details into the hospital or laboratory information system.
- Printing, organizing, and dispatching reports to patients or doctors.
- Keeping medical information confidential.
- Coordinating with radiologists, sonographers, and reception staff.

Skills Required
- Rapid and accurate typing (typically 35–50+ words per minute).
- Good English grammar and medical terminology knowledge.




- Familiarity with MS Word and hospital management software.
- Attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Basic knowledge of ultrasound procedures and anatomy is an advantage.

Qualification
- 10+2 (Higher Secondary) or graduation (requirements vary by employer).
- Typing certification or computer course is often preferred.
- Experience in medical transcription or medical typing can be beneficial.
