We are seeking a detail-oriented Xylan Coating Operator to perform surface preparation, masking, spray coating, and quality inspection of engineering components in accordance with approved process specifications, drawings, and work instructions. The ideal candidate will ensure consistent coating quality while maintaining safety, cleanliness, and process documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean manganese phosphated and grit-blasted components using compressed air to remove dust and surface contaminants.
- Handle components carefully to prevent scratches, dents, or other physical damage during processing.
- Inspect components to ensure they are free from grease, oil, burrs, moisture, oxidation, and other foreign particles before coating.
- Verify that grit blasting is uniform across all specified surfaces and arrange re-blasting when required.
- Maintain a clean coating setting using proper exhaust and dust control systems.
- Mask areas where coating is not required using masking tape, Teflon tape, or rubber sleeves according to drawings, DBI,
or customer specifications.
- Suspend components using binding wires at non-critical locations to facilitate uniform coating.
- Monitor environmental conditions, ensuring:
- Room temperature is maintained between 10°C and 40°C.
- Relative humidity remains below 85%.
- Component surface temperature is at least 3°C above the dew point.
- Record temperature and humidity readings for every production batch in the process sheet.
- Prepare the required Xylan coating solution according to production requirements and mix thoroughly using a mechanical stirrer to achieve uniform consistency.
- Coat a test sample along with production components to verify coating thickness and process compliance.
- Verify spray booth cleaning status before starting production.
- Maintain spray air pressure between 6 and 8 bar during coating operations and document actual readings.
