A project manager at a civil contractor is responsible for planning, executing, monitoring, closing construction projects and patty contractors, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. They serve as the primary point of contact between clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors and site teams.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Scheduling: Develop comprehensive project plans, including detailed timelines, milestones, resource allocation (patty contractors, manpower, equipment, materials) and procurement strategies.
- Budget Management and Cost Control: Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets, track project expenses against the budget, manage cash flow, and handle change orders and variation claims.
- Team Leadership and Coordination: Lead, manage and motivate multi-disciplinary project teams and in office personnel. This includes hiring patty contractors/staff/subcontractors, delegating tasks, resolving conflicts, and ensuring effective communication among all parties.
- Quality Control and Safety Management: Ensure all work adheres to construction plans, specifications, quality standards, and relevant building codes and safety regulations. This involves conducting regular site inspections and enforcing safety protocols.
- Stakeholder Communication and Client Relations: Serve as the main liaison, providing regular project updates (progress reports, budget status, risks) to clients and internal stakeholders, and managing their expectations.
- Risk Management: Identify potential project risks (financial, safety, environmental, delays) and develop proactive mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
- Contract and Documentation Management: Negotiate contracts with vendors and subcontractors, obtain necessary permits and licenses from authorities, and maintain comprehensive project documentation, records, and reports.
