Job Summary
The Optometrist is responsible for providing comprehensive eye care services, including vision assessment, refraction, diagnosis of visual disorders, pre- and post-operative evaluations, and patient education. The role supports ophthalmologists in delivering high-quality eye care and ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and vision assessments.
- Perform refraction and prescribe corrective lenses.
- Assess visual acuity, binocular vision, color vision, and depth perception.
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as tonometry, visual field analysis, keratometry, and retinal imaging.
- Assist ophthalmologists in pre-operative and post-operative patient evaluations.
- Identify ocular abnormalities and refer patients to ophthalmologists when required.
- Educate patients on eye health, vision care, contact lens use, and preventive measures.
- Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
- Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of ophthalmic equipment.
- Participate in community eye screening programs and hospital outreach activities.
- Adhere to hospital policies, clinical protocols, and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Optometry (B.Optom) / Master of Optometry from a recognized institution.
