We are looking for detail-oriented Chemistry graduates and postgraduates to join our accessibility content team as
Chemistry Alt Text Authors
. In this role, you will create accurate, concise, and accessible descriptions (alt text) for chemistry-related visuals used in educational and scientific content.
Your work will help make STEM education accessible to learners with visual impairments by converting complex chemical illustrations into clear, descriptive text.
Key Responsibilities
- Write high-quality alt text for chemistry images, including:
Chemical structures
Reaction mechanisms
Molecular models
Fischer, Haworth, Newman, and other structural projections
Graphs and charts
Laboratory apparatus
Equations and formulas
Tables and scientific illustrations
- Ensure descriptions are scientifically accurate and follow accessibility best practices.
- Maintain consistency in terminology, grammar, and formatting.
- Meet daily productivity and quality targets.
- Work collaboratively with editors and quality reviewers to improve content quality.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry or a closely related discipline.
- Strong understanding of Organic, Inorganic, Physical, and Analytical Chemistry.
- Ability to accurately interpret chemical diagrams and scientific figures.
- Excellent written English.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and web-based tools).
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with accessibility standards or alt text writing (training will be provided).
- Prior experience in scientific content creation, technical writing, publishing, or educational content is an advantage.
- Ability to learn current guidelines quickly and apply feedback effectively.
