Position Summary

The Fabric Development & Sourcing Executive owns the fabric supply chain end-to-end for knitted fabrics — from base R&D; and sampling through to bulk procurement, cost negotiation, and compliance. The role bridges merchandising requirements and mill/supplier capability, ensuring the right fabric quality, cost, and lead time for every order.

Key Responsibilities

Fabric R&D; & Sampling

• Lead base fabric R&D; across knitted structures (single jersey, rib, interlock, pique, terry, fleece, etc.) for multiple product categories.

• Convert sampling requirements received from various merchandisers into technical specifications — construction, GSM, yarn count, finish.

• Source and procure development/counter samples from approved and current mills as per development calendars.

• Maintain a fabric library, development tracker, and version history of approved constructions.

Testing & Quality

• Define base testing and quality parameters (GSM, shrinkage, colorfastness, pilling, dimensional stability, spirality, etc.) aligned to buyer standards.





• Coordinate with in-house and third-party labs for sample and bulk testing, and track approvals.

• Set quality benchmarks and inspection criteria for bulk fabric approval before production release.

Procurement & Vendor Management

• Handle bulk procurement of yarn and greige fabric from approved mills.

• Manage jobwork / commission processes — knitting, dyeing, and printing — with external suppliers.

• Negotiate cost, payment terms, MOQs, and lead times across multiple mills and suppliers.

• Track lead times and delivery schedules; proactively resolve delays across the supplier base.

• Evaluate and expand the vendor base — mapping mill capacity, capability, pricing, and quality consistency.

Compliance

• Ensure fabric sourcing meets GOTS, OEKO-TEX, and GRS requirements as applicable to each order.

• Coordinate compliance documentation, mill audits, and certificate validation with suppliers.
