About the Role
This role is for someone who enjoys understanding coffee at every stage of its journey.
You'll evaluate coffees through cupping and physical analysis,
work with producers to improve quality at origin, collaborate with our sourcing team, help establish our quality laboratory and systems, and ensure every coffee we export meets the expectations of specialty roasters.
You'll have the chance to work across green coffee, processing, sensory analysis, quality assurance, and even roasting, developing a deep understanding of what makes exceptional coffee.
Key ResponsibilitiesCoffee Quality & Cupping
- Conduct cupping and sensory evaluation of green coffee samples using SCA protocols.
- Perform physical analysis, including moisture, defects, density, screen grading, and other quality parameters.
- Prepare cupping notes, quality reports, and technical information for internal teams and international buyers.
- Evaluate and approve coffees for procurement based on Orchard Gate's quality standards.
