Pivot Apparel is a US-based holding company with a portfolio of apparel businesses generating over $90M in combined annual revenue. Pivot Apparel is a $38–40M B2B wholesale business serving women's, men's, and kids' markets across the United States, with subsidiary operations in India and China. Velvet is a ~$50M multi-channel women's and men's apparel company operating across wholesale, ecommerce, and 10 retail store locations.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Controller is the senior-most finance role based in India and serves as the operational leader of the group's offshore finance center. This is not a back-office support role — it is a leadership position responsible for the accuracy, timeliness, and quality of all financial output across every entity in the group. The Controller manages a team of five, oversees the month-end close for all entities, prepares consolidated financial statements, and serves as the primary point of contact between the India team and the CFO.
This role is the linchpin of the group's finance strategy. When new companies are acquired,
the Controller leads the accounting integration — onboarding recent entities onto the group's framework, establishing intercompany accounting, and ensuring the India team can absorb the additional workload. The right candidate will see this not as a job but as an opportunity to build a finance center from the ground up and grow with the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting & Close Management
• Own the month-end close process for all group entities (currently Pivot Apparel, its subsidiaries, and Velvet), ensuring close is completed accurately and within established deadlines
• Prepare and review all journal entries, accruals, prepaid amortizations, and adjusting entries
• Prepare consolidated financial statements and intercompany eliminations across all entities
• Ensure all account reconciliations are completed, reviewed, and resolved monthly
• Maintain and enforce standardized chart
