The Senior Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing routine and specialized laboratory investigations, ensuring quality and accuracy of test results, maintaining compliance with NABL standards, supervising laboratory technicians, and supporting continuous quality improvement activities.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory investigations accurately.
- Verify specimen identification, acceptability, and processing.
- Operate automated laboratory analyzers efficiently.
- Validate test results before reporting to the Pathologist.
- Process emergency (STAT) samples within defined TAT.
- Perform phlebotomy whenever required.
- Ensure proper sample storage and disposal as per biomedical waste guidelines.
NABL & Quality Management
- Follow all NABL policies, SOPs, and Quality Manual requirements.
- Maintain Internal Quality Control (IQC) records.
- Participate in External Quality Assurance Scheme (EQAS/PT).
- Maintain equipment calibration and preventive maintenance records.
- Report non-conformities and assist in CAPA implementation.
- Participate in Internal Audits and Management Review Meetings.
- Ensure complete documentation as per NABL requirements.
- Maintain traceability of samples, reagents, and reports.
Equipment Management
- Daily start-up and shutdown of analyzers.
- Calibration and quality control of laboratory equipment.
- Troubleshoot minor instrument issues.
- Coordinate with service engineers for preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain equipment logbooks.
Documentation
- Maintain:

Supervision
- Supervise Laboratory Technicians and Phlebotomists.
- Train current employees on SOPs and laboratory practices.
- Monitor staff competency assessments.
- Allocate daily laborato
