Job Description

Position: QC & Product Development Engineer – Cenosphere

Department: Quality Control /R&D;

Reporting to: Assistant General Manager

Role Summary

Responsible for quality control of cenosphere products with primary focus on physical

properties and active involvement in development of new grades based on customer

requirements and plant capability. The role requires strong hands-on work in lab testing,

process correlation, and trial-based product optimization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Quality Control (Core Responsibility)

 Perform routine testing of cenosphere batches including:

o Particle size distribution (sieve / laser if available)

o Bulk density and true density

o Sink-float / sinker analysis

o Moisture content

o LOI (Loss on Ignition)

o Visual and morphological checks

 Ensure consistency of finished goods as per internal specs and customer

requirements

 Maintain batch-wise QC records and traceability

 Identify deviations and coordinate with production for corrective actions

2. Current Grade Development (Critical Focus)





 Develop new grades based on:

o Density variation

o Particle size control

o Sinker reduction

o Application-specific requirements (construction, refractory, fillers, etc.)

 Design and execute lab and plant trials

 Correlate QC parameters with end-use performance

 Work closely with sales/technical team to convert customer requirements into

product specifications

 Optimize grading and separation processes

3. Process Understanding & Improvement

 Monitor and improve classification, separation, and grading efficiency

 Study impact of raw material variation (fly ash source) on final product

 Suggest process improvements to enhance yield and quality

 Work with production team to stabilize product quality

4. Documentation & Reporting

 Maintain SOPs for testing methods

 Prepare COA (Certificate of Analysis)

 Generate trial reports and development reports
