Development Manager

Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end development of new castings (manhole covers, gratings, gully gates, telecom/multipart products, airport & port fittings) from customer requirement or internal concept to production readiness.
Coordinate pattern design/approval with toolmakers and CAD teams (Creo/SolidWorks) and manage the Creo-to-SolidWolks / STEP conversion workflow where required.
Plan and execute trial pours and process trials across foundries (Kolkata and Chennai units), analysing rejection and yield data to refine methods.
¢ Ensure recent products meet EN 124:2015, ISO 9001/14001/45001, and BSI Kitemark requirements, coordinating with the quality team on testing and certification.
¢ Liaise with sales/export teams to translate customer drawings, RFQs and technical specifications into feasible development plans and costed BOMs.
¢ Manage development timelines and budgets, tracking milestones against customer commitments and internal targets.
¢ Drive continuous improvement projects to reduce in-process rejection and improve first-time-right rates across molding lines.
¢ Prepare technical documentation, development reports and specification sheets for new products, and support marketing/catalogue updates.
¢ Coordinate with skill development and training functions to ensure shop-floor teams are equipped to run new products at scale.
Key Skills & Competencies
¢ Strong grasp of casting design, pattern-making, and gating/risering principles.
¢ Proficiency with CAD tools (Creo, SolidWorks) and engineering drawing interpretation.
¢ Data-driven approach to rejection analysis and yield improvement (Excel/pivot analysis).
¢ Strong cross-functional coordination across design, quality, production and sales.
¢ Excellent written and verbal communication for customer-facing technical discussions.
