- Implement and monitor safety policies, SOPs, and PPE compliance across production, stores, utilities, and maintenance areas.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments (HIRA), and shop-floor audits; close out identified hazards/non-conformities.
- Investigate accidents, near-misses, and incidents; prepare root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive action reports.
- Maintain statutory registers and ensure compliance with the Factories Act, 1948, and applicable Kerala Factories Rules (accident register, Form-related returns, licenses, etc.).
- Conduct safety induction training for new employees and periodic refresher training/toolbox talks for workers.
- Ensure fire safety systems, first-aid facilities, emergency exits, and mock drills (fire, evacuation) are in place and regularly tested.
- Coordinate Permit-to-Work systems for hazardous jobs (hot work, confined space, working at height,
electrical LOTO).
- Liaise with the Factory Inspectorate, Fire Department, Pollution Control Board, and other statutory bodies for inspections/audits.
- Monitor machine guarding, material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet trucks), and boiler/utility area safety.
- Ensure food-safety-linked safety practices (chemical handling, pest control, hygiene areas) align with FSSAI/GMP requirements where relevant.
- Maintain PPE stock, safety signage, and MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) for chemicals used in the plant.
- Prepare monthly EHS reports, safety KPIs, and present to plant management.
