- Dispensing & Compounding: Review prescriptions for legality, accuracy, and therapeutic appropriateness before compounding or dispensing drugs. [1, 2]
- Patient Counseling: Educate patients on how to take their medications, appropriate storage, potential side effects, and over-the-counter alternatives. [1, 2, 3]
- Safety Monitoring: Screen patients for drug allergies, medical conditions, and potential adverse interactions between multiple drugs. [1, 2]
- Clinical Services: Administer vaccinations (such as flu shots) and conduct health and wellness screenings (like blood pressure and blood sugar tests). [1, 2]
- Inventory & Operations: Maintain accurate records for controlled substances,



manage stock levels, and safely dispose of expired medications. [1, 2]

Work Settings
- Community Pharmacists: Work in retail chains, supermarkets, or independent drugstores, focusing on direct patient interaction and filling daily prescriptions. [1, 2]
- Clinical Pharmacists: Work in hospitals and medical clinics, often accompanying healthcare teams on rounds to recommend and adjust drug therapies. [1]
- Consultant Pharmacists: Advise healthcare facilities, insurance providers, or nursing homes on patient medication use and regulatory compliance. [1]
