Role & responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Electrical Safety Management Systems in compliance with statutory regulations, client requirements, and company HSE standards.
- Conduct electrical hazard identification, risk assessments, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and review Method Statements (MS) before commencement of work.
- Ensure strict implementation of Permit to Work (PTW) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures for all electrical maintenance and installation activities.
- Inspect temporary and permanent electrical installations, distribution boards (DBs), panels, transformers, switchgear, generators, and power distribution systems for safety compliance.
- Verify proper earthing, grounding, bonding, insulation resistance, and electrical protection systems before energization.
- Ensure safe isolation, testing, commissioning, and energization of electrical equipment.
- Monitor high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical work to ensure compliance with electrical safety procedures.
- Inspect electrical tools, extension cords, welding machines, lighting systems, and portable equipment to ensure they are secure for use.
- Ensure the use of appropriate PPE, including arc-flash protective clothing, insulated gloves, face shields, insulating mats, and dielectric safety footwear.
- Conduct regular electrical safety inspections, audits, and compliance assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide electrical safety induction, toolbox talks, and awareness training to employees and contractors.
- Develop emergency response procedures for electrical incidents, including electric shock, arc flash, fire, and rescue operations.
- Investigate electrical accidents, near misses, equipment failures, and unsafe conditions to identify root causes and implement preventive actions.
