ROLE OVERVIEW

The Senior Associate – API Migration is a technical delivery specialist responsible for the hands-on migration of APIs, policies, and gateway configurations from CA Layer 7 to IBM API Connect. Working closely with the Migration Manager and architecture teams, this role ensures APIs are accurately re-platformed, tested, and released with zero loss of functionality or security posture.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct a comprehensive inventory and assessment of existing Layer 7 APIs, policies, and custom assertions to establish migration scope.
- Design and implement equivalent configurations, API proxies, and security policies in IBM APIC / DataPower gateway.
- Translate Layer 7 policy logic (XML/JSON transformation, OAuth, SSL/TLS, rate limiting, routing) into APIC-native constructs.
- Execute phased migration waves — including development, testing, staging, and production cutover — in line with the programme plan.




- Develop and maintain automated testing scripts for functional, performance, and regression validation of migrated APIs.
- Collaborate with consuming application teams to update endpoint references, certificates, and credentials post-migration.
- Identify and resolve technical blockers; escalate risks and gaps to the Migration Manager in a timely manner.
- Produce migration runbooks, technical handover documentation, and post-migration operations guides.
- Support the setup of the IBM APIC Developer Portal — catalogues, products, plans, and consumer onboarding flows.
- Participate in CAB (Change Advisory Board) processes, raising and managing change requests for production migrations.
- Provide knowledge transfer and peer coaching to junior team members and API consumer teams adopting the current platform.
