Job Purpose
This role requires advanced mechanical engineering design skills for automotive machinery, ensuring projects meet performance, reliability, and quality standards from concept through production.
Primary Responsibilities
Mechanical Engineer performs a wide range of duties such as:
- Lead mechanical design efforts, focusing on form, weight, reliability, and material selection.
- Conduct and present design reviews to internal teams and customers at key project milestones.
- Lead troubleshooting and debugging processes to resolve design issues.
- Review and approve designs created by other mechanical engineers, ensuring compliance with standards.
- Develop and maintain accurate plant 2D layouts.
- Ensure adherence to all quality policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance to mechanical engineers on design and development projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, control engineers, and shop technicians to support design and build activities.
- Oversee installation supervision and provide production support at customer sites when necessary.
- Perform and review detailed finite element structural analysis.
- Coordinate and attend team meetings to ensure project alignment.
- Manage purchase releases and documentation for design reviews.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in software applications, including SolidWorks (primary CAD software), Product Data Management (PDM), 2D AutoCAD, DraftSight, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools.
- Knowledge of geometric tolerancing, machining processes, and manufacturing.
- Experience in robot cell and automation design.
- Solid technical communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Self-driven, with the flexibility to work overtime to meet deadlines.
- Valid drivers license and the ability to obtain a passport
