To lead and drive the Health, Safety & Environment agenda at the manufacturing unit by ensuring full compliance with statutory regulations, corporate global safety policies, and industry best practices. The role is responsible for managing safety in a hazardous manufacturing environment, ensuring safe handling of flammable materials such as ENA, implementing safety standards, and building a solid safety culture across employees and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safety Leadership & Governance
- Lead implementation of the plant Health & Safety Management System aligned with corporate global safety policies and standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture through risk assessment, hazard identification, and behavior-based safety programs.
- Ensure strict adherence to critical safety systems including:
- Permit to Work (PTW)
- Lockout Tagout (LOTO)
- Confined Space Entry
- Work at Height
- Hot Work Safety
- Contractor Safety Management
2. Hazardous Process Safety Management
- Ensure compliance with statutory provisions related to hazardous processes under the Factories Act 1948 and applicable state factory rules.
- Ensure safe storage, transfer, and handling of ENA, chemicals, and flammable liquids used in alcobev manufacturing.
- Implement robust Process Safety Management (PSM) practices including:
- Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA)
- Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)
- Safety interlock systems
- Monitor safety risks in distillation, blending, bottling, utilities, and warehouses.
3. Fire & Explosion Risk Management
- Ensure adequate fire protection systems considering highly flammable ethanol environments.
- Maintain and monitor fire safety systems including:
- Fire hydrant systems
- Foam-based firefighting systems
