Position Overview We are seeking a technically robust and execution-focused Fermentation Scientist to lead process development, optimization, and scale-up of microbial fermentation systems (yeast, fungi, and bacteria). The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on expertise in bioreactor operations, scale-up science, metabolic performance optimization, and data-driven fermentation strategy. This role will play a critical part in translating laboratory success into pilot and production-scale manufacturing. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize microbial fermentation processes including batch,



fed-batch, and continuous systems.
- Lead media development, feed strategy optimization, and metabolic performance enhancement to improve yield, titer, and productivity.
- Operate and troubleshoot laboratory and pilot-scale bioreactors (1L 500L+), maintaining tight control over pH, DO, temperature, agitation, and aeration.
- Develop robust scale-up strategies from shake flask to pilot and pre-commercial scale fermenters.
- Perform fermentation kinetic modeling and mass transfer analysis (kLa, oxygen transfer, gas flow optimization).
- Drive process robustness, reproducibility, and statistical optimization using DOE methodologies.
- Collaborate closely with strain engineering and downstream teams to align upstream process performance with product specifications.
- Analyze fermentation datasets and generate technical reports for management, partners, and grant submissions.
