- Conduct benchmarking studies to compare competing products and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop a Product Specification Document (PSD) outlining all functional, dimensional, material, and performance requirements.
- Create concept sketches and 3D CAD models to evaluate and present multiple design concepts.
- Perform ergonomic studies to ensure the product meets anthropometric and user comfort requirements.
- Design complete 3D CAD assemblies and individual part models using CAD software such as SolidWorks or Creo.
- Generate 2D manufacturing drawings with dimensions, GD&T;, welding details, and fabrication requirements.
- Prepare assembly drawings, exploded views, and installation drawings to support manufacturing and product assembly.
- Develop and maintain the Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOM), Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM), Packaging BOM.
- Prepare manufacturing documentation, including process flow diagrams,
assembly standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, tooling drawings, and packaging instructions.
- Manage engineering changes by preparing Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), revision histories, and deviation approvals.
- Release the final production package, including approved CAD models, manufacturing drawings, BOMs, product manuals, spare parts catalogues, and all supporting engineering documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including industrial design, sourcing, quality, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers to ensure successful product development and launch.
- Provide technical support during pilot production, production ramp-up, and post-launch activities to resolve design and manufacturing issues while driving continuous product improvement.
