Role & responsibilities

1. Administer, monitor, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases (SQL Server 2016/2019/2022).

2. Own, track, and resolve database incidents, service requests, and production issues within agreed SLAs.

3. Perform routine database maintenance activities, including backups, restores, integrity checks, index maintenance, statistics updates, database copies, software installations, upgrades, and patching.

4. Monitor database health, performance, storage utilization, and capacity planning using SQL Server and enterprise monitoring tools.

5. Analyze and optimize database performance through query tuning, execution plan analysis, index optimization, and performance troubleshooting.

6. Implement and support High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) solutions, including Always on Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Replication, Database Mirroring, and Log Shipping where applicable.

7. Administer SQL Server security by managing logins, users, roles, permissions, encryption, and database auditing.

Develop and maintain automation scripts using T-SQL and PowerShell to streamline routine database administration tasks.

9. Support application deployments, database releases, schema changes, and production migrations through established change management processes.

10. Collaborate with Development, QA, Infrastructure, and Product teams to troubleshoot application and database-related issues.

11. Maintain database objects including stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, indexes, and constraints.

12. Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and

disaster recovery documentation.

13. Participate in on-call support and night shifts.

Desired Candidate Profile:

1. Experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, or AWS RDS for SQL Server.

2. Knowledge of PostgreSQL, Amazon Redshift, or Azure Synapse Analytics.

3. Experience with PowerShell scripting and database automation.
