POSITION OVERVIEW

The NPD Engineer (Tooling) supports new product development at Southco India through the design, development and qualification of press tools and stamping processes, taking current products from concept through to stable, capable and cost-effective production.

Combining hands-on tool and die expertise with strong 2D/3D design capability, the ideal candidate manages press tool development, machining and surface treatment processes, and works within cross-functional teams to deliver Right-First-Time product introductions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and develop press tools and stamping processes for new products, from concept to run-at-rate production.
- Manage tool build, trials and qualification, ensuring capable and reliable tooling at sensible cost.
- Support machining process development across VMC, CNC turning/bending, EDM, wire-cut and welding operations.
- Specify and manage surface treatment and powder coating processes for new components.
- Create and interpret 2D/3D drawings in NX for tooling, fixtures and components.
- Apply standard NPD tools PFMEA,



process flow diagrams and control documentation through project maturation.
- Work with cross-functional teams to deliver ISO / PPAP / APQP requirements and continuous improvement.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Diploma / BE in Mechanical Engineering, or NTTF in Tool & Die Making.
- 45 years of hands-on experience in tooling, stamping or new product development.
- Good knowledge of stamping processes and press tool design & development.
- Hands-on machining knowledge — VMC, CNC turning/bending, EDM, wire-cut and welding.
- Knowledge of surface treatment and powder coating processes.
- Strong understanding of 2D/3D drawings; NX preferred.
- Competence in GD&T;, BOM management and engineering change workflows.
- Experience with PFMEA, process flow diagrams and control documentation.
- Knowledge of ISO, PPAP and APQP; cross-functional team (CFT) experience.
- Basic SAP; strong MS Office
