- The Literacy Instructional Coach is a member of our Pedagogical Leadership Team, responsible for advancing teaching and learning through purposefully enhancing the quality of literacy instruction across School
- The coach works in partnership with teachers to strengthen literacy pedagogy through modelling, co-teaching, data-informed planning and reflection, with the ultimate goal of improving student engagement, comprehension, fluency and writing outcomes
- The role is non-evaluative, grounded in trust, collaboration and professional growth
- The Literacy Coach builds teacher capacity, strengthens curriculum alignment, supports authentic literacy practices across subjects, and ensures that language and communication learning reflect the IB and Cambridge philosophies and our mission of nurturing confident, curious and responsible learners who will thrive as thoughtful readers, writers and communicators in a global world

Primary Responsibilities?




- Instructional Leadership and Teacher Support Support teachers across grade levels to strengthen literacy teaching and learning through the coaching cycle: Cooperative planning of reading and writing lessons
- Modelling guided reading, shared reading, and writing workshops
- Co-teaching alongside teachers to support differentiated literacy instruction
- Observing and providing feedback grounded in data and reflection
- Mentoring teachers to build expertise in balanced literacy practices
- Promote an inquiry-based, student-centred approach to literacy that integrates authentic reading and writing experiences across the curriculum
- Guide teachers in the effective use of the Fountas & Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System (BAS) for diagnostic purposes and Guided Reading for targeted instruction
- Support teachers in differentiating instruction to meet the diverse literacy needs of students, including English language learners and advanced readers/writers
- Collect evidences of impact to inform school wide practices and whol
