Day Care Nurse – Job Roles & Responsibilities
1. Patient Assessment & Admission
- Assess patients upon arrival and verify patient identity.
- Record baseline vital signs and perform initial nursing assessment.
- Review medical history, allergies, medications, and consent forms.
- Prepare patients for procedures according to hospital protocols.

2. Patient Care
- Administer prescribed medications, IV fluids, blood products, and injections.
- Assist physicians during minor procedures and interventions.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures.
- Recognize and promptly respond to changes in patient condition.
- Provide pain assessment and management as prescribed.

3. Chemotherapy/Infusion Care (if applicable)
- Administer chemotherapy and other infusion therapies as per protocol.
- Monitor patients for infusion-related reactions and adverse events.
- Follow protected handling and disposal guidelines for cytotoxic medications.
- Educate patients regarding treatment precautions and side effects.

4. Monitoring & Documentation




- Monitor vital signs and clinical status at regular intervals.
- Maintain accurate nursing documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Record medication administration and patient responses.
- Report abnormalities promptly to the treating physician.

5. Infection Prevention & Patient Safety
- Adhere to infection prevention and control practices.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures.
- Ensure medication safety and follow the "Five Rights" of medication administration.
- Verify patient identity before administering medications or treatments.

6. Patient & Family Education
- Explain procedures and treatment plans to patients and caregivers.
- Provide discharge instructions, medication guidance, and follow-up advice.
- Educate patients on recognizing warning signs requiring immediate medical attention.

7. Emergency Management
- Identify medical emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions.
