Position Overview
The Agribusiness Expert will work closely with Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs), farmers, buyers, processors, and other market actors to strengthen agricultural value chains and improve farmer incomes. The role will focus on developing sustainable business opportunities for FPCs through aggregation, market linkages, value addition, input business development, and enterprise expansion.
The position requires extensive field engagement and hands-on support to FPC management teams in planning, executing, and monitoring agribusiness operations.
Key Responsibilities
Business Planning Enterprise Development
- Support FPCs in preparing and implementing annual business plans and commodity-wise business strategies.
- Identify viable business opportunities in input supply, aggregation, processing, value addition, and market-led production systems.
- Assist FPCs in developing sustainable revenue streams and profitable business models.
- Support feasibility assessments for new business ventures and enterprises.
Market-Led Crop Planning Aggregation
- Work closely with Agriculture Experts and FPC teams to align production plans with market demand and buyer requirements.
- Support implementation of demand-driven crop planning and aggregation strategies.
- Facilitate farmer mobilization and procurement planning to ensure consistent volumes and quality.
- Promote cluster-based production and aggregation models.
Market Linkages Business Development
- Identify and establish linkages with:
- Institutional buyers
- Processors
- Exporters
- Retail chains
- E-commerce platforms
- Input suppliers
- Organize buyer-seller meets, exposure visits, business networking events, and market interactions.
- Facilitate business negotiations and support FPCs in securing long-term market relationships.
