Manufacturing Engineer – Carbon Fibre Airframes
About Kalam Labs
Kalam Labs develops Near Space Aerial Vehicles for the Indian Military. Our systems operate at altitudes above 100,000 ft, conducting stealth surveillance, kamikaze, and meteorological missions beyond the reach of enemy air defences. Our systems have been procured by the Indian Army, and we have active R&D; programmes underway with the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy. All platforms — airframes, avionics, and propulsion — are designed and manufactured in-house.
The Role
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to produce carbon fibre airframes for our aerial vehicles, from mould preparation through to flight-ready structures. This is a hands-on, workshop-floor position.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for an engineer with demonstrated experience in building physical hardware. Proficiency in welding, lathe operation, and general workshop tools and machinery is essential for this role.
Responsibilities
Manufacture carbon fibre airframes end-to-end: mould preparation,
layup, vacuum bagging, resin infusion, curing, trimming, bonding, and assembly
Fabricate moulds, jigs, and fixtures in-house using lathe, welding, and workshop machinery
Inspect components for defects and implement corrective actions
Prepare and maintain work instructions and process documentation; continuously improve processes for weight, waste, and cycle time
Qualifications
Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or Production Engineering, or equivalent hands-on fabrication experience
1–3 years of experience in manufacturing physical products; composites experience preferred
Essential: proficiency in welding, lathe operation, and workshop tools
Compensation & Advantages
Flexible b/w ₹4 to ₹16 LPA, commensurate with skill and experience
