Role & responsibilities
- 2+ years of commercial Ruby on Rails experience (more would be preferable)
- Strong PostgreSQL knowledge, including query optimisation and database design
- Experience deploying and supporting applications on AWS (RDS, EC2, SES, AMI and Load Balancer)
- Strong understanding of Git and up-to-date software development practices
- Experience with jQuery, HTML5, SCSS, Bootstrap and Ubuntu
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills
- The ability to work independently while also collaborating closely with our New Zealand team

Experience with any of the following would also be advantageous:
- Experience with Claude Code
- Experience building and maintaining REST APIs
- HighCharts.js
- JavaScript/Hotwire or modern front-end frameworks
- Reporting and analytics applications
- Background job processing
- Performance tuning of Rails applications
- AI integrations and LLM APIs
- Hospitality or retail software
