Role & responsibilities
- Procure raw materials, fabricated parts, machined components, castings, forgings, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and standard bought-out items.
- Understand engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOM), and technical specifications for accurate procurement.
- Float RFQs, obtain quotations, prepare comparative statements, and finalize suppliers.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and commercial conditions with vendors.
- Develop and maintain a reliable vendor base through vendor identification, qualification, and performance evaluation.
- Generate Purchase Orders (POs) in ERP software and monitor order execution.
- Coordinate with Design, Production, Planning, Stores, Quality, and Accounts departments for procurement requirements.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to avoid production delays.
- Monitor inventory levels and optimize procurement to reduce excess stock.
- Resolve supplier quality issues, shortages, and delivery delays.
- Conduct cost reduction initiatives through value engineering and alternate vendor development.
- Maintain procurement records, vendor database, and purchase documentation.
