- Schema Design & Maintenance: Build, update, and maintain logical and physical data models across various business domains, ensuring alignment with evolving business requirements.
- Legacy Logic Translation: Analyze and deconstruct legacy SQL queries, mapping them into clean, structured dimensional models suitable for up-to-date cloud platforms.
- Canonical & Semantic Layer Support: Work closely with Analytics Engineers to document and define columns, keys, and metrics within shared data transformation layers.
- Data Contract Management: Update YAML or schema files to ensure all data products contain accurate metadata, including ownership, schema definitions, and automated test rules.
- Data Lineage & Cataloguing: Map and maintain end-to-end data lineage from source systems to dashboards, ensuring comprehensive documentation in the data product catalogue.
- Data Quality Checks: Integrate standard data quality validations such as null checks, unique constraints, and data type validations directly into data model definitions.
- Collaboration & Best Practices: Advocate best practices in data modeling, cloud migration, and analytics engineering in alignment with HCLTechs quality standards.
Skill Requirements
- Technical Skills:
- 2–5 years of proven experience in data modelling, with strong expertise in relational databases and Kimball dimensional modeling (Star and Snowflake schemas).
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, including the ability to read, optimize, and reverse-engineer complex queries.
- Practical experience with cloud platforms, especially Snowflake, or working knowledge of AWS S3/Lakehouses.
