Job Description

The customer is looking for a Python Infrastructure Software Engineer / Backend Platform Engineer to help design and build a new Device Boot Service. This service will manage server/device boot requests through REST APIs, store request data in a database, process long-running boot/provisioning operations through async workers and track each request through a state-machine workflow.

The candidate will help finalize the data model, API design, state machine, and migration plan, then implement the service components including data models, API endpoints, background jobs, tests, metrics, and runbook documentation. The service will integrate with internal boot/provisioning/BMC systems

Skills RequiredThe required candidate should have strong production Python backend development experience, especially in building web services using FastAPI,



Django REST Framework, or Flask. The candidate should have hands-on experience with REST APIs, ORM/data models, database migrations, request handling, serialization, async/background workers such as Celery, RQ, or Dramatiq, retry handling, idempotent tasks, and scheduled jobs. The candidate should also understand state-machine based workflows, concurrency-safe state transitions, testing using pytest or similar frameworks, and observability using metrics, logging, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar tools. Infrastructure knowledge such as PXE/iPXE, BIOS/UEFI, Redfish/IPMI, DHCP/DNS, and Linux server provisioning/imaging is a solid advantage.
