Designs and analyzes mechanical systems, equipment and packaging. Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. Provides design information to drafting for packaging documentation. Applies understanding of thermal and electrical engineering to conceptual design and architectural design.
Your Impact
May lead medium scale mechanical engineering projects with manageable risks and resource requirements and collaborate with cross functional teams to develop Cisco products
Drives medium features from architecture and design through fabrication and delivery based on product development requirements
Applies FMEA techniques to resolve fabrication and manufacturing issues
Develops test plans, failure analysis, reliability and verification rules for developed design elements, materials, parts and products
Performs structural simulations to analyze and conducts stress tests as needed,
including working with DVT team to identify and debug design issues
Involved in high level of design language from initial design to useability, using influences from customers and marketing
Sets standards for BoM and the right materials to be used in product, ensuring yield and cost improvement
Ensures products and materials are designed for high volume manufacturing and assembly
Drives cost model analysis to meet system COGS
Develops design feasibility and prototyping to ensure that customer needs and product guidelines are met
Leads the project team on the build of major development products, and defines the feasibility testing approach and ensures that standards are met
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors + 7 years of related experience, or Masters + 4 years of related experience, or PhD + 1 year of related experience.
Expertise in structural simulations, FEA analysis, and system-level stack-up tolerance studies.
