General Ledger Accountant is responsible for managing and maintaining a company's general
ledger, a critical component of its accounting system. This position plays a vital role in ensuring
accurate financial records and compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
As a General Ledger Accountant, you will be responsible for recording, reconciling, and
reporting financial transactions within the organization. You will maintain the integrity and
accuracy of the general ledger, assist in the preparation of financial statements, and support
internal and external audits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recording Transactions: Record financial transactions, including journal entries,
accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll entries into the general ledger.
- Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile ledger accounts, ensuring that debits and credits
are balanced and that discrepancies are resolved promptly.
- Month-End Close: Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including
preparing adjusting journal entries and financial statements.
- Financial Analysis: Analyze and review financial statements for accuracy,
completeness, and compliance with accounting standards.
- Audit Support: Collaborate with internal and external auditors by providing requested
documentation, explanations, and supporting schedules.
- Variance Analysis: Investigate and report on variances in financial data, identifying the
root causes and proposing corrective actions as necessary.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations,
and company policies.
- Accounting Software: Utilize accounting software and other financial tools to maintain
the general ledger efficiently.
- Documentation: Maintain organized and accurate documentation of financial
transactions and reconciliations.
