The Electrical Engineer (Protections) will be responsible for the design management, implementation, quality assurance, and commissioning of electrical protection and control systems, handling relay settings, coordination, and arc flash studies for New Build data centre projects. This includes managing designs to ensure electrical systems are safe, reliable, and operate correctly by analyzing faults, coordinating protective devices (like relays and breakers), and mitigating hazards like arc flash, using specialized software for these complex studies.
The role requires close coordination with internal stakeholders, contractors, and third-party vendors to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of control systems aligned with project specifications and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Oversight & Coordination
- Lead and manage the controls and instrumentation scope across all phases of the data centre construction project.
- Develop and maintain trackers for control system scopes, action items, and progress updates.
- Coordinate with design consultants,
contractors, and vendors to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Design & Technical Advisory
- Provide expert advice on the construction and integration of control systems and instrumentation equipment.
- Review and validate control system designs, ensuring compliance with project specifications, standards, and cause-and-effect matrices.
- Support the development and refinement of control philosophies and functional specifications.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Oversee third-party quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes for control system installations.
- Conduct installation checks and ensure successful product delivery in accordance with design standards and valuable industry practices.
